The BMW 3 Series is the most iconic series of all BMW's variations. First starting with the 2-door saloon and now the well-known 4-door sedan. Over the years the 3 series has been recognized as both a luxury family sedan and a high end sports car with the BMW 335i and M3 models. This is why the BMW 3 series has many options for Genuine OEM parts and thousands of Aftermarket well-crafted parts for the performance enthusiasts that lives in so many. 

BMW 3 SERIES PERFORMANCE RECOMMENDATIONS

Etek Tuning is what BMW enthusiasts are looking for when it comes to operating their BMW to its full performance potential. Our goal is to be the preferred source for Genuine OEM, Performance, and Aftermarket parts. So we curated a small list of what you can do to bring your BMW 3 series to its full performance potential. You do not have to perform this list in this order, but we recommend an ECU tune at the beginning of your build. 

ECU TUNE UPGRADE

• The performance gains from an ECU tune for horsepower and torque are going to be the best bang of performance per dollar you will get!
• Possible improved gas mileage!
• Smoother shifting between gears (if the transmission is included).
• Look into a separate transmission tune where available.

EXHAUST UPGRADE

• What you're looking for when upgrading your exhaust is to free up restricted exhaust flow, i.e., finding an exhaust kit that is "straight-piped" or doesn't include resonators, unmonitored secondary cats, secondary mufflers, and primary mufflers. 
• Upgraded exhaust improves exhaust flow dramatically and will give your car that exhaust pitch enthusiasts are looking for!

DOWNPIPE UPGRADE

• There is a lot of debate for upgrading your OEM downpipe with a high-flow catalytic converter or going completely de-catted (catless). This depends on where you live and what is emissions approved. 

• Benefits of a high-flow or de-catted downpipe(s):
  • Less restrictive, more free flowing exhaust.
  • Quicker turbo spool and response.
  • Improves low end and mid range performance.
  • Higher boost levels.

INTAKE SYSTEM OR KIT UPGRADE

• Upgrade your intake system will help free up restriction from the OEM parts. You will not gain a lot of power from this upgrade but you will enhance the induction sounds we all love!

COOLING UPGRADE

• This portion can be done in various ways and will not drastically improve performance. The object is this upgrade is to perform preventative maintenance and to deliver colder-denser air.
• For most enthusiasts working on their builds, the charge pipes, intercooler, and heat-exchangers are the first go to for aftermarket performance parts.

SUSPENSION UPGRADE

• Upgrading your suspension can drastically improve the handling, acceleration, and braking.
• Improves the look of the stance you're looking for in your build.
• Keep in mind, lowering your car will sometimes make the wheels camber in and leave a gap - this can either be corrected with camber arms, wheels, or spacers to give you a nice clean fitment.
